The Pat and Aden "Jack" Cooper Endowed Scholarship was established in November 2016 by Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Cooper & Co. Inc., REALTORS. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide an annual endowed tuition scholarship for a rising Junior or Senior majoring in the Mitchell College of Business with a concentration in Real Estate. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be a resident of Mobile or Baldwin County in Alabama.
A student who has previously been awarded this scholarship shall be *ineligible* in the following years.

This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to undergraduate students majoring in a field related to Life Course & Aging Studies in good academic standing based on GPA, academic performance, and an essay on career goals. Students should demonstrate a commitment to working with senior citizens who have limited resources and reside in senior living communities, most especially those AHEPA 310 Senior Housing facilities located in Mobile and Baldwin Counties. The College of Arts and Sciences scholarship selection committee will be charged with the responsibility of selecting the recipient of this scholarship. Nominations for the award must be endorsed by the Director of the USA Programs in Gerontology or the Director of the USA Center for Generational Studies. Alane and Mark Hoffman Special Education Certification Scholarship
College of Education and Professional Studies
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to College of Education and Professional Studies students who are in the K-6 teacher education program, have been approved to register for an internship, has received a passing score on all four certification exams, and has a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate financial need.
In March 2014, Alane and Mark Hoffman established this scholarship because they have a passion to see more students receive certification in special education. This scholarship is to help students be able to take the special education certification so they are more prepared teaching in our school systems.

The student must also have exemplified the ideals of Albert Schweitzer through community service. Alfred F. Delchamps, Sr. Memorial Scholarship
College of Education and Professional Studies
This scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time undergraduate student in the College of Education and Professional Studies who plans to teach, and has been approved for financial aid by the University of South Alabama Office of Financial Aid; attained Junior or Senior status in a College of Education and Professional Studies teacher certification program; completed 64 hours in a Teacher Education Program; been admitted to Teacher Education Candidacy; and possesses a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 at the University of South Alabama, and a minimum cumulative GPA in his/her Program Component of 3.2.
The application must be completed fully and include all of the following to be considered:
Personal statement and personal goals
Evidence of professional interest/involvement (Memberships in professional organizations, volunteer work, etc.)
Paragraph stating why this scholarship would be of helpful to you.

This scholarship was established in 2012 for the purpose of providing financial support to an accounting graduate student in the Mitchell College of Business MAcc program. Student must have a minimum 3.5 GPA and be a resident of Alabama.
In the event no Accounting graduate student meets the minimum qualifications for the scholarship, the award may be redirected to an undergraduate student who is a Junior or Senior Accounting major with a 3.5 GPA or above and a resident of Alabama. This scholarship was made possible by donations from Mr. R. Mark Foster.

The Allen J. Pearl USA NAA Book Scholarship was designed to recognize a student who has achieved success in extracurricular as well as academic endeavors at the University of South Alabama. The Aloyis Sonneborn Endowed Scholarship was established in May 2007 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a deserving student studying Real Estate within the USA Mitchell College of Business. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. 
Preference shall be given to applicants with a favorable letter of recommendation from a member of the MCOB faculty. Preference shall also be given to applicants who have declared Real Estate as a major, plan to pursue Real Estate as a career, and has completed at least one Real Estate course.

This scholarship was developed in 2004 in honor of Anne Harrison Petty, a physical therapist since 1977, and the department Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education from 1989 to 2004. The fund was developed through faculty, student and alumni donations, and it is awarded annually to a student who has completed the first year of the professional component of the Physical Therapy program. Baldwin County NOW Scholarship

USA Baldwin County established the Scholarship Now fund offering all Baldwin County students an opportunity to help further their education during the current economic hardships. The scholarships are designed to help students pay for a quarter, half or full tuition each semester. The Baldwin County Student Nurses Association Endowed Scholarship was established in 2015 for the purpose of providing a tuition scholarship to student currently enrolled in the Accelerated Nursing Program for at least two semesters (students should apply during their second semester to be awarded funds during their third semester). Student must have unmet financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid and have a minimum 3.5 GPA.

A student who has previously be awarded this scholarship shall be ineligible in the following years.

Endowed Scholarship in Nursing was established in February 2017 for the purpose of providing a tuition scholarship to a full-time undergraduate majoring in the College of Nursing with a minimum 3.0 GPA. BBVA Compass Scholarship for Cyber Security

The BBVA Compass Scholarship for Cyber Security was established in December 2014 by BBVA Compass. The purpose of this scholarship it to provide financial assistance to undergraduate students majoring or minoring in Cyber Assurance within the School of Computing. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Preference shall be given to students with a low to moderate income background as defined by the acceptable supporting criteria per the Community Reinvestment Act and HUD. Current acceptable criteria includes 1) students from those high schools that participate in the free and reduced lunch program, 2) financial documentation of applicants indicating low to moderate income per HUD guidelines for their respective city/county.

Bobby Holmes Memorial Scholarship in English

Poet and writer Bobby Holmes was student editor of the journal Negative Capability as a USA student. Donated by his parents and friends in his memory, the Bobby Holmes Scholarship provides a yearly award for the Editor-in-Chief of Oracle. Bob Lager Endowed Scholarship Fund

This scholarship is awarded to a student who attends USA Baldwin County campus, and has a minimum GPA of 3.0. The scholarship was established in 2007 by Congressman Bradley Byrne, and his wife, Rebecca Byrne, to provide funding of an annual tuition award for the USA Baldwin County campus. To qualify for this scholarship students must be in good standing and enrolled in at least one class at the USA Baldwin County Campus. The scholarship is in honor and memory of Dr. Robert Lager who was the Director of the School of Continuing Education and Special Programs Center for International Trade and Commerce. The scholarship, established by Dr. Dennis and Noel Fell, honors her parents, Milton A. "Bud" and Dorothy S. "Dot" Phillips who were great supporters and recruiters for the PT program. Captain Allen U. Graham Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2003 by Mr. and Mrs. Harvey B. Cox, III and Ms. Nichole Graham Salzillo in memory of Captain Allen Graham, who was one of the first USA graduates to be killed in Vietnam. The purpose of this memorial scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a full-time junior or senior level student in the College of Education and Professional Studies. Student must major in secondary education with a concentration in a STEM field (science, technology, engineering, or math).  Preference given to students underrepresented in the student population.  College of Education and Professional Studies C
Captain George A. Manders Scholarship in Interdisciplinary Studies

Charles P. Gray Scholarship in Physical Therapy

Dr. Fell and the faculty established this scholarship in 2008 to honor Dr. Gray upon his retirement after nearly 33 years of service to the Department of Physical Therapy. From 1976 when he taught the very first PT class at USA through 2008, Dr. Gray amazingly taught Human Anatomy, functional anatomy and goniometry/muscle testing among many other topics to 893 individuals who now practice PT across the country. The scholarship was further developed through donations from faculty, current students especially the DPT Class of 2007, and department alumni reaching the target corpus in less than one year. The scholarship is awarded annually to a student who has completed the first year of in the professional component of the Physical Therapy program based on academic performance in Human Anatomy I & II, overall PT GPA in the first year and recommendations from the faculty. Drama Design Scholarship

The Drama Design Scholarship is intended to support students with an interest in design for the stage, including scenery, costume, and lighting. This award provides support for students studying theatrical production and will directly benefit their education through mentorship and participation. They are awarded to students within the Department of Theatre & Dance. Interview and demonstration of academic achievement are required.

Criteria:
1. Theatre major at USA;
2. Full-time enrollment;
3. Must be enrolled in DRA 103 and at least one additional 3-unit Theatre course;
4. GPA of at least 3.0;
5. Continue to make significant progress towards their degree;
6. Maintain a respectful and professional manner with fellow students, faculty and staff;
7. Participate in an evaluation process upon completion of their award.

Scholarship is awarded once per year, but students must meet the above criteria both semesters to continue to receive the award. Award is not a renewable scholarship. Students will participate in the departmental productions, serving in roles as assigned depending on their major. Assignments will fit the academic track of each individual student.

The scholarship is credited to the student's account for payment of USA tuition and fees, textbooks (USA Bookstore), USA Housing and USA Dining services due each. Award is non-refundable. Any awards or scholarships funded by USA are considered institutional aid. Some examples of institutional aid are admission-based scholarships, departmental awards, employee tuition assistance, housing benefits and athletic scholarships. USA reserves the right to adjust aid if a student receives multiple scholarship awards or exceeds the institutional maximum.

The EBSCO gift will be distributed as 5-7 SoC undergraduate scholarships to students that show outstanding research potential in computing. EBSCO Scholars will receive fully refundable scholarships of $1,500 per semester and will be mentored by a SoC research faculty member to advance their scholarly skills and form a solid foundation for furthering their education and scholarly activities.

The Ed Bunnell Scholarship is an endowed fund that was created to recognize the contributions of Dr. Ed Bunnell, the first Dean of the School of Continuing Education and Special Programs, toward promoting adult learning and continuing education at the University of South Alabama. Dr. Bunnell had a passion for helping hard-working, bright adult students achieve their educational goals. The scholarship is awarded each fall and spring semester to an Adult Degree Program student who has demonstrated persistence and academic achievement.

The Fearn Undergraduate Summer Research Scholarship in Geography provides a stipend for a worthy undergraduate student who wishes to gain hands-on professional experience in a summer research project which should last approximately 8 weeks. A Geography faculty member at University of South Alabama will monitor progress of the research. The student will be expected to prepare a written report and/or a poster summarizing the objectives, data collection, analysis, and final conclusions of his/her research findings.

The applicant must be a Geography major in good student standing. He/she should have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher. However, the selection committee may consider students who do not satisfy this requirement if they have performed with excellence in Geography classes (average GPA at least 3.0) taken at University of South Alabama. The Flora Henderson Knight Scholarship was established in 2006 for the purpose of providing an annual tuition award to an incoming freshman student. Student must be of African American or Hispanic heritage, with a minimum 2.5 GPA, and majoring in Education, Business, Medicine, Math, or Political Science. Student must also be an Alabama native and come from a low -income background. Preference will be given to students that are the first in their family to attend college.

In addition to meeting the above criteria, candidates must also submit an essay detailing obstacles they have overcome in life and the reasons a degree from USA is important to their future. The recipient will be required to attend an award event, and meet with the donor. The James E. Denmark and Wayne Isphording Memorial Scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to the Geology major with the highest academic standing after completing the sophomore geology sequence. Recipients are selected by department faculty based on academic merit and are not required to complete an application.

This scholarship was established in July 1986 and named in memory of James E. Denmark, a Geology major who was killed in an automobile accident. The initial contribution was made by Alfred R Denmark, a 1971 USA graduate and James' brother.

In 2007 the name of the scholarship was updated to also recognize Professor Wayne Isphording, who was James' professor in mineralogy at the time of his death.

Jan Bolton Scholarship

The Jan Bolton Scholarship was established by the family of Jan Bolton and the Board of Directors of the USA Foundation. It is awarded to a junior-level Geography major who has demonstrated outstanding academic performance. Faculty nominated, no application required.

It is named in honor of Ms. Jan Bolton who served the University of South Alabama in numerous administrative capacities from 1970 until her retirement in 1998. She continued to serve the mission of the University through her service with the USA Foundation until 2006.
Ms. Bolton received her BS degree with a major in Earth Sciences from USA. She was a frequent participant in, and guide for Dr. Glenn Sebastian's annual Geography field trips to he Big Bend regions of Texas. She always supported students in need at USA. The world became a much poorer place when Ms. Bolton passed away in October 18, 2007.

Laidlaw Performance Scholarship

Donated by local businessman John Laidlaw, these scholarships are designed to support students with an interest and focus in performance and are awarded to students within the Department of Theatre and Dance. Interviews, auditions and demonstration of academic achievement are required.

1. Theatre major at USA.
2. Full-time enrollment.
3. Enrolled in DRA 103 and at least one additional 3-unit Theatre course.
4. GPA of at least 3.0.
5. Audition for department Main Stage productions and accept any roles if cast.
6. Continue to make significant progress towards their degree.
7. Maintain a respectful and professional manner with fellow students, faculty and staff.
8. Participate in an evaluation process upon completion of their award.

Awarded two times per year, Fall semester and Spring semester. Students must meet the criteria to apply and qualify and each term.
The scholarship is credited to the student's account for payment of USA tuition and fees, textbooks (USA Bookstore), USA Housing and USA Dining services due each. Award is non-refundable. Any awards or scholarships funded by USA are considered institutional aid. Some examples of institutional aid are admission-based scholarships, departmental awards, employee tuition assistance, housing benefits and athletic scholarships. USA reserves the right to adjust aid if a student receives multiple scholarship awards or exceeds the institutional maximum.

The Melton McLaurin Graduate Fellowship has been established as a competitive fellowship intended to support graduate student research or professional development. All graduate students pursuing a Master’s degree in History at the University of South Alabama are eligible to apply.
The McLaurin Fellowship will offer a stipend of up to $1,300. Depending upon the number and nature of applications received, more money may be available. This scholarship program was established in 1999, offering an extraordinary opportunity to Alabama students wishing to pursue a degree through the Mitchell College of Business.
The Mitchell Scholars Program allows elite business students to develop to their full potential. Through faculty mentorship and a four-year $50,000 scholarship, that includes a laptop computer, scholars will pursue challenging programs while developing stewardship and civic responsibility. Mitchell Scholars have the opportunity to participate in faculty research projects, culminating in an honors research thesis and creation of a peer-reviewed publication or creative work. Scholar students will be given priority registration so they can maintain progress to their goals.

Qualifications for Consideration:
-Minimum 28 ACT Composite (or comparable SAT scores)
-Minimum 3.5 high school grade-point average (as computed by the University of South Alabama)
-Business major
-Mobile/Baldwin Counties and State of Alabama Residents given preference

Application Process:
Students must complete an admissions application for the University of South Alabama, and submit it to the Office of Admissions. Students must indicate on the application that they wish to major in the Mitchell College of Business.

Students must also:
-Request your school counselor to mail an official copy of your high school transcript to the Office of Admissions.
-Request your official ACT or SAT results to be mailed to the Office of Admissions.
-Participate in an interview (if selected for final consideration).

Students who meet the minimum qualification listed above and who have been admitted to the University by December 1st of their senior year of high school will be automatically considered for the Mitchell Scholarship Program. After acceptance to USA with official documents, 2016 high school grades majoring in the Mitchell College of Business will automatically be reviewed and a scholarship award letter will be mailed to the recipients.

Please note: Students who are awarded both a Mitchell Business Scholarship and a Presidential Scholarship must choose which scholarship they wish to accept. These scholarships may not be combined.

The Mobile Bay Heritage Award is now available for students, student groups and faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences who are in the following majors/programs: African American Studies, Anthropology, Communication, English, Foreign Languages and Literatures, Geography, and History. The Mobile Bay Heritage Award was established to encourage a project highlighting Mobile County or Baldwin County history, archaeology, and/or culture. Examples of projects might include a fee for a speaker, a photo exhibit, a class field trip, a research stipend, or the publishing of a report. It is made possible by the generous support of donors and is open to students, student groups, or faculty within the specified Departments/Programs listed above in the College of Arts and Sciences. One (1) or more awards may be given, totaling up to $2,950, and the project must be completed either in Spring 2016 or by the end of the Summer 2016 semester. Mobile Jaycees Azalea Trail Endowed Scholarship

Mobile Azalea Trail has established the Mobile Jaycees Azalea Trail Endowed Scholarship fund with the University of South Alabama as a means to recognize Mobile Azalea Trail Maids who have best displayed the qualities of being a Mobile Azalea Trail Maid: service to the community and academic achievement. Through this scholarship, the Mobile Azalea Trail hopes to stay connected with the recipient through her college career and further serve as an advocate for the Mobile Azalea Trail.

To be eligible a student must:
* be a former Azalea Trail Maid,
* an incoming first-time freshman,
* have a high school GPA of 3.50 or greater,
* a score of 24 or higher on the ACT.

This is a renewable scholarship up to four years of a students undergraduate degree, provided they meet the minimum continuing criteria of a 3.00 GPA and 30 credit hours per year. Recipients will be required to attend the Mobile Azalea Trail in October of each year to update the board on the progress of their college studies.

The Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Scholarship was established to provide financial assistance to members of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society transferring to USA in the fall semester. Students must have completed at least 48 hours of coursework and have a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA earned at their two year institution as computed by the USA Office of Admissions.
As a part of the JagSPOT application, the student's Phi Theta Kappa advisor must provide a letter of recommendation and verification of membership.

Students must be accepted for admission and submit the Enrollment Services Transfer Scholarship Application by June 15th to be considered. Awards are made in mid-summer. Students may only receive either the Phi Theta Kappa transfer scholarship or the Community College transfer scholarship.

The Providence Hospital Endowed Nursing Scholarship was established in March 2015 by Providence Hospital. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a full-time student majoring in one of the programs within the College of Nursing. They established this scholarship in memory of Joyce's husband, Robert, and son, Joseph. Robert passed away from cancer in 2000 and Joseph died suddenly from a heart attack in 2013. Robert and Joseph, both farmers, were influential and supportive of Kenneth earning his doctoral degree, and both were always willing to give up their own time to lend a hand to those in need. Sandy McGill Healthcare Scholarship

The Sandy McGill Healthcare Scholarship was established in October 2015 by the South Baldwin Healthcare Authority for the purpose of providing financial assistance to full-time graduate or undergraduate students majoring in the College of Nursing.

If student is pursuing a graduate level degree, preference shall be given to those students who agree to focus in the areas of acute care or gerontology and in the fields of Clinical Nurse Specialist, Clinical Nurse Leader, or Nursing Informatics/Nursing Administration.

Recipient must have been employed as a Registered Nurse in the area served by South Baldwin Regional Medical Center for at least two consecutive years immediately prior to receiving the scholarship.

Following graduation, the student must commit to work in the region served by South Baldwin Regional Medical Center in a nursing position for a period of time relative to the scholarship funds received. (Two years of employment commitment is required for one year of scholarship funds). Student will be responsible for signing a promissory note with USA to ensure further understanding of the employment commitment and responsibilities.

This scholarship was established in 1996 and is administered by the Scholarship and Awards Committee of the Department of Physical Therapy. The fund supporting this scholarship originated from donations from the Physical Therapy Class of 1994, in memory of a classmate, Shannon McCoy, and donations made in honor of a former Department Chair, Rosemary Archambault Norris upon her departure from the University. These funds were combined in 1996 to support awarding of an annual scholarship. It will be awarded to a student who has completed the first year of the professional component of the Physical Therapy program. In addition, eligible students must be in good academic standing (> 3.0 overall GPA). Once the call for applications is given, interested students must complete an application form and submit it during Spring Semester of the first year of the program. A special Memorial Fund has been established at the University of South Alabama to honor the spirit and perpetuate the memory of Shirley Marie Holt, who died August 29, 1985, after an extensive illness. This scholarship was established in 2008 for the purpose of providing financial support to an entering full-time Sophomore student majoring in the Mitchell College of Business. Student must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and must be a resident of Alabama. Eligible students must provide a letter of nomination from an MCOB faculty member and at least one additional letter of reference from a non-relative. Letters should describe the student's strong leadership ability, positive attitude, outgoing personality, good judgment and sound moral character. Each year, the USA Office of International Education and Study Abroad awards a limited number of scholarships to students who study abroad. The OIE Study Abroad Scholarship is a competitive scholarship intended to assist University of South Alabama students in funding their study abroad experience.

In order to qualify for the OIE Study Abroad Scholarship, applicants must:
-Currently be enrolled full-time at USA
-Be in good academic standing
-Approval from the Dean of Students
-Complete Study Abroad application
-Meet the program GPA requirements

Award selection will be based on:
-Financial need
-Program cost
-Personal statement

Preference will be given to students:
-Who participate in faculty-led study abroad programs or international bilateral exchange programs
-Who have a history of outstanding academic achievement
-With GPAs of 2.75 and above

Awards may only be used on approved study abroad programs and are contingent on completing all pre and post program requirements. Withdrawal from the program or failure to meet program requirements will result in a loss of the scholarship.

Tau Beta Pi Outstanding Sophomore Scholarship

The $1,000 Tau Beta Pi Outstanding Sophomore Scholarship will be awarded to a sophomore engineering student on the basis of scholarship and service to the university. To qualify for the scholarship, students must be a full-time sophomore with a minimum 3.20 GPA. Students must have completed or be currently enrolled in one of the following courses: EG 283 Statics, CHE 203 Elementary Principles of Chemical Process, or EE 220 Circuit Analysis. Each student is asked to describe why they chose engineering as a career and the contributions they hope to make to the community after graduation.

Note: The College of Engineering awards $500 to the scholarship winner. Another $500 will be matched by Tau Beta Pi national organization. The total scholarship amount is $1,000.

This scholarship was established in 2014 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a student in the School of Computing who qualifies for the Mitchell-Moulton award as determined by the University. The USA Board of Trustees Endowed Scholarship, developed on behalf of the USA Board of Trustees, was designed to provide funding to exceptionally qualified and highly motivated incoming USA Freshman scholars. One award is given each year to the incoming Freshman candidate with the highest ACT/SAT composite score and GPA combination (based on a 4.0 scale).This scholarship will be used to fund annual tuition, and is renewable for the first four years of the student's undergraduate study - provided the student maintains the minimum requirements.

Victoria L. Rivizzigno Endowed Scholarship in Geography

The Victoria L. Rivizzigno Endowed Scholarship in Geography is awarded each spring to an outstanding senior-level Geography major who has an overall GPA of 3.0 and Geography GPA of 3.0. It is funded by, and named in honor of Dr. Victoria Rivizzigno who taught in the USA Department of Earth Sciences for 29 years (1979-2008). She served as Assistant Dean and Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences for an additional 7 years (2008-2014). She is a Human Geographer, but she played a fundamental role in establishing USA's very popular two-semester College of Arts and Sciences Natural Sciences electives, Landscape Processes and Atmospheric Processes.

Recipients are selected by department faculty based on academic merit and are not required to complete an application.
